Primary school with approx. 200 pupils. Mixed gender and mixed ability primary school.
Completed team teaching over the course of 4 days, 4x 1 hour lessons. Based on the IMMA Lucien Freud Exhibition as a starting point for the project

4th Class - Portraiture
Theme: Self
Aim: Introduce the artist Lucien Freud, experiment with materials to create self portraits exploring the art elements and design principles
Learning Intentions

Introduce pupils to Lucian freud’s artwork, subjects and style.

To focus on self portraiture and develop skills for painting, collaging and working 3D.

To reinforce art elements and design principle in each session:

Processes, painting, collaging, clay making, marbling.

To compare and contrast Lucian frauds portraiture with other artists.

To enable students to successfully evaluate their work.
Learning Outcomes

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and learned alot including;

Time management is very important.

Preparation is key for classes and being organised.

Demonstrate and engagement with a class very important.

Engage with students in a professional and respectful manner.

Ensure to keep activities and tasks age appropriate i.e. they found the book binding difficult, maybe try an easier method.

Classes should be interactive, enjoyable and fun to hold students attention span.

Aim and focus is to encourage and motivate students to achieve to their full potential regardless of artistic ability.
