Teaching Practice
Over the last few years I've experienced several placements to enrich and uphold my teaching practice. These have included Primary and Post Primary Teaching. The content of these pages captures my experience.
"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all."

Philosophy of Teaching
The Arts allow for a culture of creativity and imagination. Without them the world would be a dull place, to those who recognise the importance of the arts we must stand together to continue to build on the culture. Art Is not limited to any age group, gender, ethnicity which allows for a wide variety of people to come together onto common ground.
Art teaches us to observe both manmade and natural environments. It allows for us to engage in a variety of themes surrounding global issues and topics: sustainability, global warming, fast fashion, deforestation etc. Art provides a platform for people to represent and acknowledge wider issues in the globe to a large audience.
As a teacher of the arts, I give the students a voice and an opportunity to be heard through visual communication. Which in turn creates confidence and collaboration in the classroom. This practice enables the students to appreciate topics from other view points and justify their own opinions. My teaching pedagogy allows for creativity, personal expression and development in both techniques and processes. I make it my aim to expose the students to a wide variety of materials and medias. This allows for the students to experiment and find their own strengths.
Being a practicing Illustrator and educator allows for me to introduce contemporary and current trends into the art room. Whilst my final teaching placement has now completed, my trajectory as a teacher is not completed and will perhaps require continued lifelong learning which entails moving from being a novice teacher towards an expert teacher with more experience, maturity and continued commitment.
